HILL OF DRUMBAIN near ROTHES

Just to the north of Rothes on the A941 this large part of a windmill, weighing in at 54 tons and 100 feet in length came to grief falling
off a transporter and rolling down the hill to a point shown with the churned up earth. This photo was taken some 3 days after the
event when the effort to rescue the windmill part was well in hand. The following day the road was closed to allow 2 cranes to lift
the windmill part back onto another transporter and return it back to Invergordon for onward return to the makers for repair.

Windmill parts are being transported from Invergordon to Pauls Hill near Knockando on a daily basis until probably February 2006.

mast on the hill - Smoke and steam from the Dark Grains Plant (The Puree) at Rothes and the Ben Aigen hill directly above the smoke.
