FEBRUARY  2014

Tuesday 21st January 2014 was dominated by a ferocious fire at the garage of D.C.
George at 91/93 Regent Street, Keith which totally gutted the buildings, and the ability
to trade was lost, with serious damage to vehicles, buildings and equipment.

D.C. George trades as a garage with vehicle repairs and MOT's their main line of work

The main trunk road (A96) between Aberdeen and Inverness was closed for 7 hours with diversions in
place via various narrow side roads causing lengthy tail backs and long delays to all traffic. Luckily no
one was injured in the fire. Sadly lots of valuable equipment and vehicles plus buildings were lost. The
owner has secured another garage and various other operatives have agreed to help him out, to allow
him to carry out on going work in hand until such times as the situation returns to some form of
normality. Some 40 fireman were in attendance along with crews, engines and associated
equipment from Huntly, Forres, Rothes, Dufftown and Aberdeen

Mount Stromboli in Tyrrhenian Sea off the coast of Italy has been erupting continuously
since at least the 7th century BC. according to Greek records and it is known as 'The
Lighthouse of the Mediterranean'

Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines erupted on 15th June 1991 and produced a plume
21 miles (34km) high and ejected an estimated 16 to 30 million tons of Sulphur
Dioxide into the atmosphere. And we worry about pollution !!
